Cherry Blossom Festival
April 26 at 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm EDT
Get your passport ready as we explore flavours of the world through some of the most interesting food cultures and festivals. From Japan all the way to Kentucky, we will be celebrating the global language of food and drink with guest hosts who are experts in their respective crafts.
Destination > Japan (HND) – Considered a food mecca, a meal in Japanese society goes well beyond taste. This modern and bustling society, steeped in tradition, sees its food culture as a means to build stronger bonds, work in teams, pass along traditions and most importantly, it is also a way to thank the gods through festival (or matsuri).
One of the most popular matsuri in Japan is the celebration of the Cherry Blossom, known as Sakura. For many Japanese, the blooming of the cherry blossom trees symbolizes human life, transience and nobleness. The Japanese love to celebrate and cherish the cherry blossom trees during the limited flowering period and many people hold ‘flower watching’ parties known as hanami with bento, bbq and saki picnics under the beloved trees.
Celebrated everywhere from Copenhagen to Washington D.C. and now in our very own Chef’ Paradise Kitchen, join us as we celebrate the beloved Sakura with a Japanese inspired food and drink menu.
