An introduction to all things olive oil and balsamic vinegar, for curious cooks and professional chefs.

Did you know that there are more olive varieties than there are grape varieties? Referred to as ‘liquid gold’ by Homer in the Greek mythology epic the Iliad, olive oil and the olive plant have a rich and fascinating history dating back thousands of years. The olive branch is considered to be a symbol of abundance, glory, and peace; its nectar, olive oil, was even once used as a form of currency in Ancient Greece.

Join local owner/operator, Mike George of Aurelius Fine Oils & Balsamic, as we take a deep-dive into the complex world of high-quality olive oils and balsamic vinegars.

Mike will guide us on proper tasting techniques to distinguish the various aromas and flavours that are key markers for a quality product. We will also explore the rich history, at-home best practices and a few fun facts about this liquid gold.

Light snacks and refreshments will be served alongside a flight of 4 olive oils paired with 4 vinegars. Attendees will also be going home with a delicious gift from us!
