An affogato, or as it is called in Italy, affogato al caffe, is translated directly to English as « drowned ». Simply put, the affogato is a scoop of cheese-flavoured ice cream, or vanilla gelato, drowned in a double shot of espresso. Eaten as a dessert in Italy, the affogato is super easy to make, especially if you have a Jura espresso maker.
Take a scoop of your ice cream or gelato, and place it in a cup or glass mug. Place the mug under the brewing spout of the Jura espresso maker, and brew a double shot of espresso before enjoying your affogato! Vary your affogatos with the addition of one shot of amaretto or Kahlua.
Enjoy your Jura espresso maker by also making some caffe latte popsicles.
